The Hazen Memorial Library of Shirley takes part in the Massachusetts Summer Reading Program. This program strives to keep children reading over the summer months and has awards associated with each reading level.

The Hazen Memorial Library’s annual Summer Reading Program is a beloved tradition for people of all ages! It’s fun, helps kids keep their reading skills strong, and promotes the joy and love of reading. That’s why it is so important that we continue this treasured program in 2021. This summer’s program will once again utilize the online tracking program "Beanstack" so that it’s easy for everyone to participate in a way that helps maintain the safety and health of our community. This year’s program, “Tails and Tales,” kicks off June 22nd and continues through August 12th. It will be offered online and will feature incentive prizes and drawings, special virtual events, fun learning activities to try at home, craft and activity bags for all ages and more for all four age groups (birth to pre-K, children, teens/tweens, adults). You’ll find lots of cool things to do at home as well as in-person events (as long as it remains safe to do so), from magic shows, scavenger hunts to story times. Please check out our website and Facebook page for more information about all of our events and programs.
